The daily summaries of editorials from Israelline have this gem from Haaretz:
Haaretz comments: "Supreme Court Justice Elyakim Rubinstein's decision to place Tali Fahima under arrest until the completion of proceedings against her is one of many examples of the overuse of the policy of such arrests... Tali Fahima is on trial for entering the city of Jenin in an illegal manner, for staying at the home of Palestinian fugitive Zacharia Zbeidi, and for allegedly translating for Zbeidi the contents of a secret Israel Defense Forces document he obtained while the IDF was conducting an operation to arrest him. One need not be a Supreme Court justice to comprehend that the danger posed by Fahima to the security of the state is minimal... The decision to hold Fahima until the completion of her trial is unreasonable and disproportional, and suggests that in the matter of stripping an individual's freedom before he is convicted, the constitutional revolution still exists only on paper."
Tali Fahima, for those who don't know, is the (technically Jewish) Israeli mistress of terrorist ringleader Zakaria Zbeidi. Public opinion about her (outside the rarefied circles frequented by the "beautiful souls" [1] of Haaretz) basically varies between those who believe she belongs in an asylum for the insane to those who feel a bullet is too good for her. A longtime coworker whose political opinions are centrist like my own suggested she should be stripped of her Israeli citizenship and sent packing to her boyfriend, so they can set up house together. If he 'retires' from the terror business, so much the better for everybody involved. If he continues to try and butcher Israeli civilians, then she can share his fate upon the next "targeted elimination". Music at her funeral would be provided by the Nanotech Violin Duo, consisting of Emperor Misha I and myself.
[1] Ironic Hebrew slang term, basically meaning "self-righteous bleeding hearts"
